Medicine has made impressive discoveries, but some of them are very debated and in some parts of the word are even illegal and controversial. Embryonic stem cell research is one of the fields that tries to find cures in an unusual way for many of us. Embryonic stem cells are important as they can differentiate into many types of the cells that our body needs, so in case that a severe disease interferes, these embryonic stem cells can replace the ill cells and can also help them to regenerate.
The embryonic stem cells are taken as their name says, from the embryo after few days from it’s existence. There are mothers that donate their embryo for this purpose and this is one of the reasons why sometimes, in some countries, is a ban on embryonic stem cell research. It is questioned if it is legal, ethic. Religious facts are also another cause why there is a ban on embryonic stem cell research. A possible solution for this is represented by the use of “induced pluripotent stem cells, but this still there are discussions and debating. Embryonic stem cell research it is thought to manipulate the cells and this can be a danger as we do not know in what can this transform. After the stem cells are taken from the embryo, it dies and this also puts a lot of problems regarding the embryonic stem cell research.
The good part of embryonic stem cell research is that it can be used for curing several diseases as cancer, several tumors, Parkinson, diabetes, leukemia, heart problems and many that are still under testing. Embryonic stem cell research is a great tool for curing diseases that in the past had no chance for this, but it seems that the only problem with embryonic stem cell research is because is related to human life, as the cells are taken from the embryo.
